<< Well, since The River is a significant water source for much of the Dragon
Pass region,>>

I disagree - althouth I suppose it depends on your definition of 'much'. Firstly, even without Skyfall Lake, the River isn't going to dry up entirely, although it will become a lot lower. Secondly, it has many tributaries, so that the effect on most of Dragon Pass is minimal IMO. Take my fave tribe, the Torkani. Their main water comes from the Creek and Goodfarm River... what do they care if the River dries up? The same goes for many of the tribes of southern and eastern Sartar, which are centred around the Stream and various minor tributaries.

The people who will be affected, and affected in a big way, are the Alda- and the Dinacoli. As any Torkani tribesman will tell you, these are scummy Yelmalions and deserve everything they get :-) I rather doubt they're big on Heler, either, which would put them in an even worse situation.

I suppose the Upland Marsh would shrink though, which I suspect is a Bad Thing, especially for the Ducks.

<<However, if the sorce of The River were dried up, a lot more rain than usual
would
be required to maintain any sort of significant water level. >>

Not all that much more really, when you think about it. Granted it does rain perpetually over Skyfall Lake, but it isn't *that* big a lake, so I think if you divide the effect over the whole of Dragon Pass you'd find the overall drop in rainfall/water level would be minor. A few percent is all, I would guess. Except, admittedly, for the Alda-Churi and Dinacoli region.

Forward the glorious Red Army!
