Hi All,

 I have been thinking about Maran Gor lately.

  1. In TotRM (superb mag), I noticed in the Maran Gor write up that the Kimosians of the Kimos peninsula worship Maran Gor. They use her magic to sculpt the land, to unleash great magic upon their enemies the Gorgers.
  2. In the Fonrit write ups it says that Mondoro is a land of earthquakes, strange and unnatural geographical formations and that they worship the
    'Hungry Goddess'. This particular deity is served by a Eunuch high priest
    and demands sacrifices every 33 days. This also sounds like a Maran Gor variant.
  3. Sandy wrote in his short guide to Doraddi gods that Lokomal the Mother of Dinosaurs was equated by the God Learners to be a form of Maran Gor, worshipped for the Thunder Lizards she bears, not the earthquakes she produces.

Okay so here are my questions.

  1. Is is Maran Gor that the Kimos folk worship or just a goddess like her? A GL interpretation?
  2. When Garangordos invaded Fonrit from Laskal was he supported by Kimos folk, who then later settled in Mondoro and made it what it is today? Or was their a native Earthquake/Bloody Earth goddess transplanted from Laskal or discovered in Mondoro?
  3. Is Lokomal a generic Dinosaur Mother, for all the cultures that come into contact with the Doraddi? Is the religion originally from Slon or Tarien?
  4. In Fonritan mythology is Ernamorla related to the Hungry Goddess at all? I am looking for a Ernalda/Maran Gor relationship I suppose.

+++Re: Lascerdans++++

 Sandy said that the Lascerdans were not bipedal. By this does he mean that they could still use fore claws to manipulate objects, like a baboon or a morokanth? Were the Lascerdans tool makers, or were their dams more like beaver dams in nature? How intelligent were they? What did they worship?

+++Re: Delecti and Ducks++++

 I personally believe that their is some connection between the ducks and Delecti. Althougth I think that Delecti may have been the head of the
'Stitched Zoo' projects during the time of the EWF and that the ducks of DP
were an attempt to recreate a lost mythical being, just as the centaurs were. That mythical being was of course the Keets. I suspect that the EWF in their search for draconic knowledge had come across the mythology of the Keets, and sought a tanist figure for their new mythology. Perhaps ignorantly they believed that the Keets had been completely self sacrificing and hope to recreate a race that would willingly be sacrificed to power the Empire. However the EWF had not developed the Stitched Zoo process fully and were only able to recreate Duck-Keets, losing the unique magical powers of all the other forms. If I remember correctly a few other types of Keet may have survived in DP even if only as illusions, for if I remember correctly ther is mention of 'Flamingo Men(Keets)' in Kallai
'Ballista's' King Quest.

Cheers Simon Bray.
