But aren't they exercising free will in the way that they respond? Or is their answer, as Douglas Bailey suggested, predetermined?

Where the gods seem to be more proactive, as with dreams, Paul W. Wegner suggests that it could be the result of some operation set in place a while back now causing a trigger to the god to do what it has to do (i.e. send a dream).

Could these be demons in the god plane? ( sorry - this is another geeky computer allusion :-) )

One other question. The great compromise was put together to fight chaos - - so does that mean that Chaos gods are not bound by it?

Well - I know that Cacodemon prowls around Dorastor, so it would seem not. It's a terryfying thought if it is the case. Would it not make chaos god DI considerably more powerful than normal god DI (like wishing your opponent dead)?
