Dreamquests, Praxian Slaves, Sources

The seasonally recurring Free Will of Gods debate contained something which poked my interest, to wit the somewhat vehement denial that gods communicate with their worshippers in dreams.

IMO dreams are one way to enter Godtime, to use the computer-analogue "in protected mode" (usually). By detaching the conscious mind from the dream experience, apparently whatever harm is experienced is muted just as much as is the experience gain. There are instances and circumstances where both dream experiences and dream dangers can carry over into the waking life, though.

I was fairly convinced by the argument that Harrek was a "natural" heroquester because he could walk the hero-plane as in a dream. Considering that he slept for over 80 years during the Ban, he had ample opportunity to explore the world beyond in his dreams.

Shamans send bad dreams through the Spirit World, an at least partially discorporate manifestaton of the Otherworld.

Enostar Bad Dreams (Argrath of Pavis) troubles the Lunars in Pavis with dreams, and when a true dragon dreams, experience in the waking world is quite affected by the dream dragons it generates.

Male slaves among Praxians:

According to the sources, they have them. Argrath Saga tells us that
(though not how) Argrath spent some of his teens as a ground man among
the bison folk. He apparently was "penned" with the herd, which gave him the opportunity to slay the six-legged monster called Anxank. Procuring material for camp- and cook-fires surely fell into his services before he showed his prowess as a warrior.

For friends of the multiple Argrath theory, this Argrath probably was Argrath White Bull, unless Garrath Sharpsword suffered the same fate
(although for a less long term, I suppose).

Argrath visiting the Plateau of Statues is interesting, since this parallels Jaldon Goldentooth's inspiration how to take Pavis city. Since I have come to believe that Argrath White Bull is identical to the Jaldon counter from the Dragon Pass boardgame, I make this one of the events which led Argrath White Bull to realize that he was an incarnation of Jaldon indeed. IMO he also was a descendant of Sartar
(through his mother) and of Waha (through the Praxian khan who fathered
him when his mother was living as a slave with the Praxians, after a raid, before she was ransomed before her pregnancy was apparent - Praxians don't rape, but they do force sex on female slaves, and at least to them this makes all the difference in the world).

If it was Argrath White Bull only who served as a slave, we don't know about castration of male slaves - as an avatar of Jaldon, I doubt he had a sexually active life whether he could or not. Garrath seems to have been functional in a couple of his weddings. But generally I doubt that Praxians would burden themselves with a freshly castrated useless wretch unable to keep up with the herds' migration, so I doubt they do castrate each and any slave. Uppity slaves, or slaves lingering too long in the women's presence, now that may be another chapter...

First Age Orlanthi sources:

I am arguing mainly from Enclosure, Broken Council Guidebook and discussions with the authors of the relevant articles (except Greg), so I am sorry I cannot offer any definite sources.

Daysenerus appears to be the name of the original Sun Dome god in the time of the Second Council. Remember the Knight Fort/Palangio discussion
(around the time the first Glorantha Weekly was collected)? At that time
I learned about the existence of the Sun Dome Templar cult before the troll occupation following the Gbaji Wars.

I suppose the dates and names of the battles are part of Harmast's Saga. No, I haven't read that. Yet (since I hope that Harmast's Saga will make it into some Issaries Inc. product, as excerpts in the Sartar description or as ficton in its own right).
