Darkness

[Last Rvcd Dig 650]

A proposal:

There are, at least, two sorts of darkness. The effects on the red moon illustrate the two quite nicely: weak darkness hits the red moon and does nothing to it, strong darkness hits the red moon and obscures it.

Weak darkness is ever-present. If there's enough light you wont see it, but its still there.

Strong darkness is bounded. Unlike light, which gradually dissipates over distance (maybe because of the polluting effects of weak darkness), strong darkness just _stops_. Strong darkness moves around like a living thing (and sometimes is).

Destrix is the centre point of a strong darkness blob which partially engulfs the red moon but (probably) doesn't reach the surface world.

If you were in a pitch black cavern you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between weak and strong darkness (you couldn't see a shade). If there was weak light in the cave you could see the difference. Furthermore, if the strong darkness sat on the light source it could squelch it down to a point, at which case you could only see it if you put your eye right up to it.

Reasonable?

Richard
