I rather suspect that the Lunars present themselves as continuing=20
the Malkioni tradition and theology. If Illumination is=20
present across Glorantha, but through differnt methods and rationales
(see Greg Sez at www.chaosium.com re Humakt) then there must be=20
a Malkioni version, a 'divine state of grace' I would suggest.
Since Malkioni already view pagan gods as 'big' spirits, and the=20
true divinity in the Invisible God, Malkioni are quite likely to
have to regard Illumination as 'divine madness' and to revere them=20
as holy men, hermits etc. Of course socially such people are as close
to revolutionaries as you might find, and so the social role of such=20
people will have to be carefully controlled. Cynical and deceptive
Illuminates will fit right in, but then again they always do..

And that's the whole point isn't it? Truly secret societies are just=20 that. To that end I would suggest that the templars weren't a secret=20 society, but that there may have been secret societies within it. The IRA are=20 in many ways a a secret society, the Viet Minh weren't, the Viet Cong were. =20

     Isn't this a Thanatari quote?
