There are plenty of magical effects which could be useful to a mystic trying to ignore the world. Protection spells, not-having-to-eat spells, resistance to emotion affecting spells, even perhaps spells like Arrow Trance , where the only things that exist are the caster and his target (this is, if not nonbeing,  then at least reduced being, or "being-lite") Keith Nellist
