     It could just mean that the Western languages use a non-phonetic script, like Chinese, which exists in the same written form throughout China despite the existence of numerous unrelated spoken languages. However, the relative ease of comprehension between Western languages would indicate that they are closely related, and presumably derive from Brithini. The last time this was debated on the Digest it was suggested that the Western script is phonetic, but that it was considered wrong to write in languages other than Brithini in much the same way as writing native European languages instead of Latin was once thought to be somewhat crude (if not exactly forbidden). This was, however, only a suggestion and not necesserily an official Gloranthan 'truth'.
