The modern Carmanians use buildings, pottery and statuary that are similar to greek ones (but not all carmanian buildings etc. are greek-looking). As a result of Magnificus's Restoration of the Lunar Empire, the Pelorian basin has acquired a veneer of carmanian culture that thinly disguises ancient native cultures. However the parallel really is the Ionian Satrapies of the Persian Empire, the Selucid Empire or even the Indo-Greek states. In the East Isles, there is the Thellini Isles which is based on Plato's Republic.

If one wants Greek-like Islands (like Syracuse, Sybaris, Mytilene, Rhodes, Crete or Cyprus) with easy access to the sea, then perhaps the Rightarm Isles or the Manirian Coasts may be a better place.
