More mini-cameo ideas

Here are some more mini-cameos. Again, these are not necessarily tied to Glorantha. Some bigger scenario sketches may be forthcoming soon.

Shell Game: PC's run into traveling entertainer troupe in the woods.(many types of entertainers exist in Glorantha. In more economically advanced areas, full-time professional troupes can be found.) Several interesting types, in camp: singers, musicians, acrobats, sword-swallowers, etc. Perhaps some exotic foreigners. Players can, for example, get enticed into 3-card monte with some guy, who will almost certainly take them for cash. Or perhaps the troupe wants guards through a bad area. If the troupe members mis-behave and are foreign, the PC's (assuming they are locals) are held responsible.

Greedy Merchant: PC's are toughs, and not from around here. Stage a bar fight, or a stare down with a local goon. Merchant walks over, says, work for me and I'll pay you a lot. Joe (a local) owes me loan money, get it from him. Merchant is telling the truth, but neglects to say that Joe is connected to local powers that be...or is tough himself. Maybe merchant is a loan shark and working for him gives the PC's a bad rap...or lands them in jail.

Greedy Merchant 2: PC's buy something from a traveling peddler. It looks nice, but falls apart soon after due to hidden defects. Will PC's take to the chase? If not, have them spot the merchant in some town or village. He/She is buddies with or related to local bigwig of law enforcement. Will PC's press issue, or will they knuckle under?

Evil Scientist: Inn Keeper. The Inn of Dr. Moreau. The innkeeper is fascinated by Hunschen and the beast people of Beast Valley. Delving deep into EWF lore, who knows how he got access. He has developed a potion to improve strength and constitution, senses and dexterity. It can be offered as a special Brew to PC's or to travellers who get the privilege due to some quality they possess or just because. But...it is serum ala Island of Dr. Moreau, and people start expressing animal traits and features. When you run amok and look like a goat...Youre a broo! Kill'em! say the locals. If the scenario is placed away from a Storm Bull area, PC's are in trouble since no one might be able to detect Chaos. On the other hand, Storm Bulls might just kill them anyway.

Framed!: A PC is found to possess a stolen item. Knowledge spells like Reconstruction show someone who matches the PCs description, as do witnesses and physical evidence. Mind reading spells and Detect Truth are possible ways out, so make sure no one in the isolated location (aboard ship?) has them. Better yet, have a mind reader available. He or she is behind the plot, and is really after secrets the framed PC knows. He or she will use the opportunity to root through the PC's mind, once invited in.
