Doing Pavis...

Chris Bell mentioned: Hero Wars scale, can you do Pavis?

"One of the things that I always loved about RQ2 was how "low-fantasy" Pavis was, somewhat similar to Fafhrd & The Gray Mouser or the Thieve's World series. We all know that the new Hero Wars RPG can model the great Heroquests of Gloranthan myth, and also model personalities such as Argrath, Jar-Eel and maybe even Arkat himself. However, can it also model the personalities we meet in places like Pavis, such as Fleeter Nemm, Treasure Trove Hurbi, Griselda and Wolfshead?"

I noticed MOB expressed a similar concern over "anthropomwanking" (might have spelt this wrong!) in which we get all obsessed about high level characters and their interactions with the Dogs and the Dogtime we end up with a game that can't give us the feel of some poor farty farmer trying to defend his sheep from a pack of wolves. Personally, I prefer playing games where my adventurer has a severe dose of relaxed anal nerve when he sees a big troll with a mallet pitch black from a crush spell.

There again, it could be a laugh being an innkeeper telling Harrek (and getting away with it) "Oi, mush, leave that rug outside! What are we a taxidermist? And who's that bint with the Madonna style armour plated jugs?"
