Not really answering your question, but in my Umathelan game, caves are a scarce resource and jealously guarded by the different Umathelan campaigns. In their religious practice, you really can't perform the Lightbringers Quest properly unless you have a nice cave. (Note: I cribbed this from the Mayans, who apparently also made proximity to ceremonial caves one of the factors in deciding where to live.)

I don't think the Ernaldans of Dragon Pass are quite as particular about this. I'm sure they use whatever caves are available, but a gnome could probably dig a temporary cave just fine.

The PenDragon Pass rules [Enclosure 1] include such a rule -- actually, a reduced chance on the childbirth table for initiates of Humakt, but you could make the penalty stronger for Swords.

BTW, species continuity is unaffected by anything dealing with rune levels, since they represent such a small fraction of the population.

What a horrible idea, wasting space in the new rules with a conversion system for a game large parts of the target audience don't play.

But what a great idea to publish elsewhere. I'd be more than happy to publish such an article in Enclosure (though it could be on the Issaries web site).

Even though my opinion will probably be* that you'd be a fool to use such an article. My personal experience switching from RuneQuest to PenDragon Pass (arguably two much closer systems) is that players will be disappointed. Heck, switching from RQ2 to RQ3 was a disappointment -- your characters didn't really have the same abilities once the rules changed. You're much better off starting new characters and not having disappointed expectations.
