Two different things. Harrek became Champion of Ygg "despite all odds" in 1617 (Genertela Book p15). He is already leader of the Wolf Pirates before then. Argrath recites Ygg's genealogy in the Lightbringer's Quest and is rewarded with a flight to the West (KoS p32). This is not difficult as he lived for many years amidst the Wolf Pirates.
