Both! In myth he's the son, but a God Learner (and that's us, let's face it) would say he's an "aspect", since their cults and magic overlap so much as to make distinguishing them almost meaningless.
Of course, you get areas where the farmers worship _only_ Barntar, and not Orlanth, generally due to his displacement by a different ruling entity. Or at least, the farmers _claim_ not to worship Big O...
