<< Basically, there are two main forms of character creation:
I hadn't realised those were supposed to be different forms of character generation (duh!) - at any rate its those that I was feeling apprehensive about, although I am quite prepared to admit I may change my mind when I see the final version. I had been under the impression there was some alternative method to the one or two listed above, and that's what I was interested in. I take it I'm wrong? :-(
Kevin Rose:
<< Uh, not exactly. In the version I've seen you get Orlanth the farmer, who
is associated with Barntar. But Barntar is not shown. >>
I stand corrected, and I have to confess to not realising there was much of a difference. Barntar may, of course, be in the Orlanthi Book.
<<Unless the GM is willing and able to make up the entire magic system there
really isn't much there. You get a word or two with no idea of how it is
supposed to
work in a game. <sarcasm> "I attack with 25 SPs of combat magic" is just so
much improved in roleplay and storytelling over "I hit him with a sunspear."
</sarcasm> >>
I'm pretty sure that this additional detail will be in there eventually, although it might not be until the Orlanthi Book and its counterparts for other cultures. While I have no 'inside info' on this, it seems such an obviously essential thing to do that I really can't believe they're not going to put it in. And that *isn't* a sarcastic comment :-)
Forward the glorious Red Army!
