Trevor what you have to remember is that Peter Metcalfe and ' friends ' are perfect beings, they are the Gods of Glorantha, do not criticise them because you will suffer their wrath. Take a look at the archives'. The truth is out there and its name is Metcalfe.

No Glorantha content here - If this offends you, hit page down now.

I personally don't mind Peter's posts. I usually read them with interest. I am impressed with the fact that his arguments are always well written and easily understood. I'm more impressed with his extraordinary knowledge of 'official' Glorantha. It's true that he can be brutal - but I'm not convinced this is a completely bad thing. If you've got a half-assed theory, Peter will do you the service of pointing out for you its inconsistencies with the published (and unpublished) sources from both Glorantha and the RW. He may not do it as politely as you want, but he certainly is clear. Politeness has its place, but in the context of the Digest I prefer accuracy and clarity to political correctness.

Political correctness is in my opinion too pervasive. It is refreshing for me to see a man who when he thinks he sees some rubbish, he has the balls to call it rubbish. You're free to disagree with him, but if you want to take him on, make sure you have your facts straight. If you do your homework and catch him in error, as happened with the recent darts in the Roman Empire thread, he'll even admit that he was wrong. This is more than can be said for lots of people who post to the web.

And while I'm at it , (again IMO) smiley faces are a crutch for the lazy and the barely literate. If you want to write something inoffensively, take the time to write it in an inoffensive manner - don't just throw out some evil sounding sentence and put a colon/parenthesis at the end so people will know not to take you seriously.
