NPC write up of a troubadour who travelled from area to area singing news
(once he'd been paid enough, obviously) I kinda liked the idea.
Bad things on boats
Contra to Simon Bray's words about cats on ships, apparently it's good luck to have a cat on a ship (according to Humberside folk lore) but if you see a cat get off a boat at dock it means that boat's not going to come back when it sails out to sea.
Personally I'd like to throw any dwarves overboard, but if you attached a chain to them perhaps they could be useful as an anchor?
Zombie artists - I take it that these people would count as ungrateful dead
