(I hope I've posted this to the right address, it's been a long time
since I posted to the Digest...)

It's all true I tell you! For too long have the Arkatian monomythicists been persecuting those who can See The Truth. Read on and lose d100 SAN... The Godlearner Secret: RQ gods are not benevolent. They are more akin to Cthulhu-style parasites which feed on worship, blood sacrifices
(religious strife) and terror. They have the sentient races just where
they want them, but the GodLearners saw through their facade and tried to liberate the world from their evil clutches. The Gods won, and spread slanderous lies, blaming the destruction of the time on the GodLearners.

The GodLearners were, if anything, Tricksters, attempting to teach through change. Their favourite rune was Disorder, for only through Disorder can true dynamic harmonic balance be achieved. (Harmony without Change is Stasis and Death.) This brought them into conflict with the Dragons and EWF. However GodLearners were supported by the Giants, who are much cleverer than most give credit.

The Giants battled the Dragons before the gods arrived on Glorantha. (In their timeline / mythology.) The Giants used the First power, Disorder, to create Dreams which they used as a tool of Disorder against the Dragons. Dragons can't exist on (or comprehend?) the mercurial dream / spirit plane (ref: Elder Secrets). Unfortunately the Dragon-Giant conflict went horribly wrong and the Outside crept in, aka Gods, some of whom took power here and infected parts of Glorantha with their own natures. Later this recurred, and the old gods called the newcomers the Chaos Gods.

Older, wiser Giants are fond of the younger (dreaming, anarchical) races, if given half a chance!, and a True Giant's dreams are as powerful as a Dragon's. Do I contradict myself? Of course Dragons dream.
(ref: Gloranthan Bestiary or whatever, Dream Dragons.) Do you have a
problem, Grasshopper?

Meanwhile. A popular but heretical theory. The Red Emperor is actually in Trickster. His middle name is Greg. The Imperial Beaurocracy is dedicated to never letting him get out of control. Occasionally he escapes from the Palace and implements changes. Every now and then he dies and is reborn outside, sometimes he remains at large for weeks. He revels in diverse cultures rubbing cheeks whereas the Lunar religio- -industrial complex requires conformity. All hail discordia!
