Erik Sieurin's mostali dialog is brilliant, as usual. "Grow it!" indeed :)

I was also fascinated to see your reference to tin, Erik.

I have always been dissatisfied with the usual consensus naming bronze the metal of Umath and his kin. Bronze is a composite metal, not a pure elemental one, I think.

Here are some of my work-in-progress views on Gloranthan metals and their metaphysical connections.

Tin is the metal of Umath. It's light, malleable and the color of a stormy sky. The essence of Storm is strength, change and violence.

Copper is the metal of Ga. The essense of Earth is endurance and resilience.

---

Orlanth is a young god and his inheritance is of mixed Storm and Earth, admittedly more Storm, since beautiful Kero Fin was a proud mountain goddess and as such probably somewhat stormy herself.

Orlanth's "metal" is bronze... mixed Storm and Earth, combining the strength of Storm with the resilience of Earth and producing something new. Orlanth may not be as Stormy and violent as his older kin, but he has the tenacity and toughness most of his kin lack. This lack of elemental purity may also explain Orlanth's rare ability at compromise and break out of old patterns...

sorry people, I'm getting a bit too tired and incoherent. If you are interested I might type the whole thing up tomorrow...?
