The Grain Sisters
Among Ernalda's countless daughters are the Grain Sisters, each of whom gave birth to a single grain. The most important to the Garhounders are Frona Barleymother and Esrola Oatmother. Lunar settlers have brought Pelora Maizemother and Ernamola Milletmother with them, and some Garhounders have included them in their prayers from time to time. Their worship is described in Gods of Glorantha, although they are usually approached as a "subcult" of Ernalda. Technically speaking, the Bless Crops spell is bestowed by these goddesses when used upon grains.

Voria and Voriof
Voria and Voriof are twins, Voria sister and Voriof brother. They are the guardians of children, and see that they are not stolen away by malevolent spirits. All Orlanthi children are dedicated to them upon birth.Their worship is described in Gods of Glorantha, although they are usually approached as a "subcult" of Ernalda.

The Burrrruphti
The Burrrruphti are a specific sort of craft/household spirit that is held in very high regard among Orlanthi and other worshippers of air-imbued alcoholic beverages. They are rumored to be the illegitimate offspring of Kolat and any number of nymphs, fathered at various Divine parties before the Greater Darkness. Burrrruphti love sweet things and water. They can be found inhabiting any number of sweet liquids that have been exposed to air. Some Burrruphti have a preference for malt extracts, and it is these who are called upon for brewing.

Many households simply make a malt extract, boil it down to concentrate, and leave it out with a small prayer in hopes of attracting an appropriate Burrrrupht. Most of the time, this works. Unfortunately, this sometimes attracts a Burrrrupht who is more hungry than particular, and the results are less than ideal (aka "farty"). On rare occasions, a chaos-tainted Burrrrupht is attracted, and the resulting brew is actually toxic (and chaotic).

In general, a "wild brew" can expect a proper Burrrrupht about 80% of the time and a "farty Burrrrupht" about 15% of the time. The tainted Burrrruphti infect about 1-4% of all other brews, depending upon the location of the brewer. A special summon spell that is taught by Ernalda's priestesses can remedy this problem to a great extent.

Summon Burrrrupht
(spirit magic spell)
This is a typical spirit summoning, except that one's Craft (Brewing) skill can substitute for the Ceremony roll. It also requires a minimum of one liter of a fermentable liquid on hand for the Burrrrupht to inhabit. Many casters get a random Burrrrupht from the neighborhood, but repeated castings often attract the same one. Some master brewers know the true names of several different Burrrruphti and can summon specific ones to get specific brewing results. Knowledge of this spell is sometimes enough to get a free meal and bed for the night in return for casting it in the kitchen the next day.

A fumble on the Craft (Brewing) or Ceremony roll summons a farty Burrrrupht. This spell guarantees against a tainted Burrrrupht even if fumbled. Note that Trolls do not consider a farty brew to be flawed, and may even consider it to be a very lucky thing to get hold of.

The frequency of tainted brews does not necessarily represent the actual frequency of tainted Burrrruphti. Honest, respectable Burrrruphti are just usually busy from being summoned, thus leaving the tainted and farty Burrruphti little recourse other than to try to sneak into a wild brew.

This spell can only be imparted by Garhounder priestesses to those beings who have successfully completed the Thirsty Orlanth heroquest.

Mahome
One of the Lowfires, Mahome is worshipped here as a subcult of Ernalda. Her worship is likewise mentioned but not described in Gods of Glorantha. Ernalda priestesses learn a special ritual devoted to Mahome.

Bless Hearth (1 point)
ritual Summon/Enchant, nonstackable, reusable This rite is cast whenever a new mistress takes over management of an Orlanthi hearth or whenever a new hearth is built in an Orlanthi household. The ritual lasts from dawn to dusk and requires that the mistress of the hearth sacrifice a point of POW to Mahome. In return, the hearth is enchanted to act as the home of a mahome-spirit, which is summoned at the end of the ritual and which lights the first new fire of the hearth.

So long as it inhabits the hearth, the spirit fulfills many important functions in connection to the hearth. First, it prevents the entrance of mischevious wind spirits down the flue or smokehole and ensures that smoke does not routinely fill the household. Second, it guards banked coals and permits them to live without fuel for at least an extra day. Third, it nudges children away from the hearth should they stray too close. The mahome may fulfill other functions, which vary from individual spirit to spirit. One common "specific" function is to cast an Ignite spell on tinder and kindlings placed in the hearth.

Contrary to the japes of ignorant city-folk, there is no "traveling" form of this ritual, nor are there "portable hearths". However, it is known that Odayla and Foundchild will teach a spirit magic spell to prevent smoke from blowing into a hunter's eyes from a campfire.

Why is Bless Hearth a Divine Spell but Summon Burrrrupht a Spirit Magic spell? Hard to say. Perhaps because the former actually binds a spirit in place and limits its activities, but the latter merely summons the spirit and then lets it do what it wills. Likewise, Bless Hearth has a long-term effect.
