Sorry Alex, by coincidence, just watched the mini-series you refered to

and the series agreed with the book (takes off book shelf). The captain
was Captain-General Paulus Spillbergen, although in the mini-series only
refered to by rank (apart from one reference early on, maybe).
Blackthorne was always Pilot-Major or, more commonly, just pilot. Hense
the name Anjin-san, anjin being Japanese for pilot (san meaning honourabl=
e,
or Mr. to us gaigin).
