A few strange facts about these creatures.
If you add iodine to their water they develop into a full adult stage.
Salamanders have been known to be found frozen in ice that is upto a thousand years old. When defrosted they have returned to life for short periods.
They regenerate limbs.
Michael O'Brien has a couple of them as pets, one of which had to have a leg amputation using a pair of garden clipper (or was it scissors).
