It probably wouldn't, on the retail sales end of things. Still, from the GTC member's end it does make an emotional difference. I get a much better feeling buying a game from a local retailer, where I feel that the purchase makes more of a difference. Other people in the store see me buy it, perhaps talk to me about it, and the store owner gets that warm fuzzy that only cash can give him. ;) All this, and I could get a discount from Wizard's Attic too? That would make me feel pretty good.

What is the point of that? It encourages people to join the GTC. One of my reservations about joining was that I wouldn't use the discount because I prefer to buy locally. What finally persuaded me to do it was the "patron of the arts" angle. Anyone that thinks joining the GTC would be a "bad deal" is missing the point. Still, every little bit helps when someone is sitting on the fence...
