Don't ignore the Ceremony rules: when unhurried, people are unlikely to make a mistake.

IMO, there are two parts to the Peaceful Cut: one is sending the beast's spirit to its proper place, the other is getting all the meat, blood, etc from the carcass. The former is achieved by the spell, the latter by the Butchery roll. IMG, spirit magic succeeds unless fumbled when the caster is unstressed, so it is rare that the spirit will remain restless. The Butchery skill determines how much spoilage there is on the carcass.

I'll privately send you my expanded thoughts on how Praxians butcher their animals.
