In the ongoing "is Prax Africa, North America or Australia" debate, Alex asked of Adam Betteridge:
Adam:
>> Surely if Bloody Jeff can stalk Glorantha, there is room for a herd of big
>> Wombats.
Alex:
>Is this a reference to some Deep Source which eludes me, or just an
>exercise in Tempting Fate by epithetising our Beloved Orlanthi Expert? ;-)
"Bloody Jeff" (see the back covers of Questlines I & II) is an irritable chaos-koala, drawn rudely and magnificently by Dan Barker at my request to be the mascot for the first Australian Glorantha con - RQCon Down Under, January 1996. A few lucky souls also have one of the now-priceless RQ-Con Down Under t-shirts depicting the little chap.
I'd love to claim Orlanthi Jeff as Alex's elusive "Deep Source" for Bloody Jeff, but I hadn't met him yet. In fact, BJ is a witty piece of political satire, and is named after a leading looney-right renascent-Thatcherite facist buccaneer Australian politician of the same name.
Cheers,
MOB

>Sables, Impalas, Rhinos, Ostriches, Hyenas- all African.
Just so you all know, thousands of feral *ostriches* roam the dry inland of Australia. They were imported from South Africa late last century for their beautiful plumage, but when it become unfashionable to adorn ladies' hats in this way, many were simply let go and have thrived. Dunno if we've got too many sables, impalas, rhinos or hyenas out there though...
