Rhino's, buffalo/bison and antelope all rubbed shoulders together until recently in Europe (the bison and antelope are still here - just about).

I think with a bit of creature/nomenclature swapping you could fit the Praxian tribes into most continent: most horse evolution occurred in North America, some of them may have been stripey - call them Zebras. Swap ostriches for rheas (which have taken steroids) South America. Swap bison for wildebeest - Africa, etc.

Whilst looking through some old digests if found this reference in Nick Brooke's 18/2 Praxian FAQ mailing:
