"Dougie" <dougiepunk_at_bigfoot.com> wrote a beautiful take on Alisander's
theme that I think is much more likely to work. The problem with presenting
a scenario, such as the original that I found so objectionable no matter how
it was justified, that forces the player characters to embrace victimhood is
that it is repellent to the players. Nobody plays these games in order to be
the victim of cruel, horrific oppressors. You could do that any day simply
by taking a plane to Yugoslavia. Even the Vampire player crowd, supposedly
deep roleplayers who enjoy tackling dark subjects, are distinguished not by
the victimization of their characters but by their characters' power trips.
Anyway, this is veering dangerously close to a rant, so I'll close.
Good show Dougie!
