Sir Alisander:

>Could the Fronelian Nameless Man be the spirit of King Snodal?

An interesting theory but two facts are known that seem to refute it.

  1. Snodal's ghost has been spoken to since the Ban fell. The reference is in a footnote to the Fifth Wane Chronicles at www.glorantha.com
"The heirs of Snodal claim to have spoken to the prince's
ghost, sent by the Invisible God (say some) but summoned
through darkest necromancy (say others). The prince claimed
that the effort was necessary to preserve Fronela from a
tremendous curse sent by Zzabur, the malicious sorceror of
Brithos whose motivations have always been secret. Scholars
at the University of Sog City seeking to duplicate the
summoning of the prince, got instead his some of his companions
in the heroic venture, who corroborated the prince's tale."

2) The Nameless Man, or at least another spirit of the same

name, has been around long before the Ban fell. The     Fronelan prophecy of the Hero Wars mentions his return     circa the seventh century, implying that he has already     appeared.

This is not to say that it's wrong, but a lot of Fronela's current problems could be solved by finding out who the Nameless Man really is. Magical methods are useless because sorcerers need a name to summon him and he hasn't got one...
