IMHO it was a mistake to have Saints granting blessings for exactly this reason. Westerners must have Faith that they will gain Solace. If it is simply proved to them then it is valueless. The worship ceremony for Westeners is described as reassuring them that something happens. I would (if I ever ran a campaign in the West) have Saints blessing as sorcerous spells manipulated by the wizards. They would be 'spells' as opposed to 'blessing from another world called Solace' . Of course only Wizards (and perhaps Lords) would (should) know this.

The Creator should be Invisible after all. What is Solace if you are a Saint constantly being interrupted to do some Blessing? A dreadful chore, better to be a mediocre worshipper who just goes there and gets to relax a bit.
