All that follows is just valid in my version of Glorantha. I have
not the time right now to take part in a remake of the last Solace war. I
use Sandy Petersen's sorcery and saints rules.
Depending on the particular sects there are four main takes on the
matter of Blessings.
- Iconoclasts. People in Solace cannot be contacted. Those so called Saints
are demons trying to ensnare your soul, offering power in exchange of
service. No saints. The Perfecti seem to follow this way, and I am sure
there are many iconoclasts in Seshnela.
- Followers. The Saints are unreachable in the bliss of Solace. However,
following a virtuous life in the steps of a saint will help you become as
him/her. The power comes from the follower (as it is payed by the follower too).
- Openers. The Saints, through their meritorious lives, have drawn the
interest of the Invisible God, so that those who follow the steps of a saint
have an enhanced chance to perform a miracle, specially one associated with
the saint. The power comes from God (as a limited Divine Intervention).
- Intercessors. The saints are those holy enough to sacrifice themselves,
delaying their full integration in Solace to keep helping those worthies in
Glorantha who still need guidance, magic and an example to follow. Some
people can be living saints, saints while still living, and others can be
contacted by the living. Most henotheists saints/gods are included here. The
power comes from the saint (or from God through the saint).
