What is chaos you ask?

You know the giant gorp in dorastor? The gorp that, if you somehow enter it, is the equivalent of swimming in 50 Potency boiling acid? Well, that's the Gloranthan physical object most similar to physical Chaos, as far as we know. The Mother of Monsters is something else that is closest to chaos, speaking in terms of fertility. Chaos Gaggles and Cwim are things that are closest to chaos, speaking in terms of their form and unity or lack thereof. Humakt, the god of Death, is the closest thing to Chaos in terms of how completely and thoroughly someone's existence is terminated, only Chaos terminates existence through all Time, erasing your presence and even your memory when it terminates you. When Harrek, the avatar of death in 17th century Glorantha, punches people sometimes he hits them so hard their parents die. Chaos can kill you and your whole family with a single attack, no matter how far removed you are from home. Chaos and Glorantha cannot mix. If it were to really enter into Glorantha and weren't immediately given form and physical existence by Arachne Solara's net, Malkion's Laws, and the Dragons' Powers, as all these horrible chaos monsters I have described have gained form, then Chaos would prove to be the ultimate solvent for everything physical, spiritual, and fertile. Remember that everything that is, all the runes, the dragons, the giants, the gods, all that is in and of Glorantha, and all that will be, all these sprang ultimately from Chaos. And as Bill Cosby says, "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."

Endlessly destructive
Endlessly creative
Endlessly variable, never repeating forms Endlessly complex and disjointed

That is Chaos.

Do not touch it.
