Philippe, I've actually gleaned some very useful bits about s.o.p. and procedures from "3 Byzantine Military Treatises (Dumbarton Oaks Text 9) by George T. Dennis (Translator) - it's oop, but you can probably find it somewhere. The Byzantines work well for me as Lunar analogues.
