Suddenly I'm concerned. Did I miss something, or is WWW equivalent to  60 in Pendragon (and 300% in RQ)?

And people called my group powergamers?>>

It depends what you mean by 'equivalent'. In an unopposed contest, a skill of even 2WWW means an automatic critical, which is equivalent to 39 in Pendragon (assuming that criticals are equally effective, which they probably aren't). Its far more difficult to come up with a meaningful equivalent in RQ because the systems are even more different; although clearly its a heck of a lot.

OTOH, in terms of character power relative to their community, its a good deal lower, since the typical rune master is apparently about WWW, if not higher (and before anyone jumps on me, I realise the theoretical minimum is one heck of a lot lower, since the positions are now social, not determined by numbers - but its the typical values I'm concerned with here, not the minimums). Its that discrepancy where the problem lies, since IMO it makes the 'typical' rune master a lot more skilled than he ought to be, even ignoring any misguided attempt to make HW fit a RQ straight-jacket.

If this sounds completely different to what I've been saying for the last week or so, that's because it is. Off-digest discussions mean that I now have to retract every defence of HW I've made in that time: I was wrong, and I once more believe there *is* a serious problem with the current draft of HW. Not one that can't be easily fixed, I hasten to add (and I'll certainly be buying the rules to see if it has been), but a very worrying one all the same.

Its all rather depressing, really :-(

Forward the glorious Red Army!
