The Herds of Prax

Andreas asks about the appearance of Prax=2E This is a good point - it's easy=20= to forget just how much our picture of Glorantha is absorbed gradually over=20= the years of reading=2E Starting from scratch must be quite daunting=2E

Andreas, I suggest you go to a good library, find the Ecology text books and=20= look up the Chapparal habitat=2E My copy of "Ecology" by Ricklefs has a single=20= black and white photo but I'm sure you could find better than that=2E The=20= characteristic vegetation type seems to be straggly, low-lying brush=2E I have=20= a large colour photo of the area round Ayer's (sp?) Rock in Australia which I=20= use for atmosphere when talking about The Block=2E

On the other question of the make-up of herds - no the Bisons won't keep any=20= cattle; they are not true Praxian beasts and I guess are pretty much as taboo=20= as horses=2E However, the Bison would end up keeping small herds of other=20= Praxian beasts, at least temporarily=2E I take the view that they will=20= slaughter captured animals before their own and probably trade any excess at=20= one of the oases=2E

This suggests some potentially useful conflicts as a tribe may end up with=20= beasts of their own nation but still bearing the markings of another tribe=2E=20=  If these are allies who show up before the beasts in question can be=20= "remarked" there may be some awkward choices=2E Try to explain? Brazen it out=20= and risk a fight? Gift the beasts back to their original owners and risk=20= internal dissention?

All IMO of course=2E
