Dwarfs and Disease

Does anyone have any theories about how diseases work in relation to dwarfs?=20=  Presumably one aspect of the "stick to your alloted task and you get to live=20= forever" deal is that dwarf cities are not periodically swept by fatal=20= diseases=2E

Does this reflect a general dwarfish resistance to disease (perhaps if=20= disease represents a manifestation of Growth) or is it a result of some=20= magical protection? If the latter, does the protection operate at the level=20= of the settlement? If my dwarfish submarine crew is forced to deploy a=20= landing party which encounters broos or their spoil, are they any more or=20= less likely to contract something nasty than a human group would be?
