Languages in Pavis

To add a minor but important point to the answers to Ian's question:

Most of the people "now" living in New Pavis are Sartarite. The place was only founded in 1550, so if you're playing in 1620 the language has had 70 years of drift, with constant influx from Sartar all along. Compare American and Australian English (both of which have had much more time to drift) to the real thing, and I think you'd agree that the common language of Pavis is Sartarite with an accent.

Now the original Pavisites, who were here long before Dorasar: yes, they'll speak Old Pavic, with all the Wyrmish links. But New Pavic, if by that you mean the common language spoken in New Pavis, is a totally different thing.

(And thanks to MOB for the vote of confidence in my Sun County language analysis: but that is about Sun County, not Pavis, so may not be as helpful as you might wish).
