Are the gods self-aware entities? Are they actively paying attention to their worshipers? This comes up often in the context of divination and divine intervention. Does a god know what a person is going to do? General consensus: MGF dictates that they not watch their worshipers too closely or offer too much advice, but that they remain apparently aware of the world's events.
Value-Added Note for today:
This *differs* from the rather broad view from Greg's article cited by
Kevin Rose (WF 12). That article ("Divination & Divine Intervention") is
presented as the "house philosophy" (presumably at Chaosium) on this
subject. Since we found out much later (the first Lore Auction) that RQ is
a very poor simulation of Gloranthan reality, and that magic in Glorantha
is a lot rarer than the game would have you believe, a further caveat is in
order, to the effect that This is Game Reality, and if you want something
grittier, please feel free to lower the involvement of the gods along with
the generalized magic level.
Anyhow, Greg in WF 12 presents, for example, that a god knows what his worshipers are thinking about the god and "general trends taking place within their own realms" (air for Orlanth, darkness for Kyger Litor or Zorak Zoran, etc.) I saw this principle used in an otherwise excellent game to give Ernalda the power to tell us where a particular person was, and where the path he was on was leading to.
