That's not unheard of...

That may very well be so. From a theoretic viewpoint it makes excellent sense though.

Even manifest mystics are reluctant to use magic in an active fashion. So, weak may not be right. Rather, like pure mystic magic, mixed mystic magic is probably geared toward protecting the practitioner from adverse effects (and doing it pretty well).

Not necessarily mied, but definitely manifest. As far as I know, there is no orthodox mystic martial arts school in modern Glorantha. Darja Danad's method simply doesn't work under today's conditions.

A reason as good as any!

Excellent idea, which also makes for interesting conflicts between martial arts schools. An East Isles martial artist would think that the animal and element condition is an utter misunderstanding.
