Part of what prompted this question is a comment in Cults of Terror that the Ritual of Devouring can capture a bound spirit from the eatee to the eater. Allied spirits obviously don't have the same relationship with Rune levels as bound ones do, but it seems an interesting possibility that the Ritual of Rebirth might have some sort of similar impact on the relationship with spirit and Rune level. But ultimately, it does seem unlikely.
