" December 31st, 999 Mohawk officials today cancelled the tribe's
Y1K celebrations after immigration officers seized a suspected terrorist
attempting to cross the Mohawk/Montagnais border. According to Mohawk
investigators, Leif Eriksson is believed to have arrived at Baffin Island
over a year ago, without any documentation. 'The guy walks in wearing a
helmet with horns on and they just say 'Nice hat', and give him an
application for a Canada Council multiculturalism grant' said one Mohawk.
'Unbelievable, They let in any old crazies up there. Keep like that and
pretty soon every whacko on the planet - French, English, God knows whatwill
have figured out what a soft touch they are.'
An Immigration Montagnais spokesperson denied that the system had broken down , despite evidence that Eriksson had links to the international terrorist organization, the Vikings. 'We became suspicious ,' said one Mohawk Customs officer, 'because he didn't seem to know any of our customs. Those fellows up north are asleep at the wheel. Geez, this guy said he was the son of Erik the Red - if that name's not a giveaway, what is?' "
