Yes, yes, but we have no evidence that any literacy survived and I have the sense (from reading the book) of a disaster as far as human knowledge can spread.

In favour of the limited curse is the fact that the Syndics Ban only managed to kill off Communication in a limited area. If the Literacy Curse was spread due to the death of Lhankhor Mhy (See Argrath and the Devil) then perhaps we might see the effect limited to Orlanthi lands. But I suspect that still more nefarious forces were at work here....
