Didn't mean to accuse you of anything. Nor to imply the RC church is the only religion or set of beliefs that has a guily past. Almost every philosophy or religion has had adherents carry out terrible acts in it's name.

The point I was obliquely making is the one you specifically make - you are writing as a late c20th century (or early c21st) Italian Catholic. What is dogma or doctrine of the RC church, and to the ways in which this dogma has been spread has varied throughout history.

An 11th, 15th, or even 19th century "catholic" living elsewhere in Europe may see these issues very differently from yourself, whilst holding as legitimate a Catholic faith as your own.
