David Cake:

>>>I think if it was truly a mystic institution, then like the Gerra
>>>cult it would be a handful of people.

Me>>Have I (or Alex) said or implied otherwise?

> And Martin and I obviously think you are wrong the on the handful
>of people. So it would appear that we have arrived at a simple
>irreconcilability.

But you had implied that I believe something that I never even said (i.e the ITCs are much larger than the Gerran Cult) and attempted to dismiss my PoV on the implausibility of those grounds, i.e. a strawman.

>If it turns out that the ITC did indeed have a population in the
>dozens,

FWIW the Gerran Cult has a thousand worshippers (c.f. enclosure #1) so it is entirely possible for the ITCs to be of similar size.

>>The Frenzypeace practictioners are mistaken.

> According to various orthodox mystics (well, Serd Marnad and Reha
>Manari specifically). But does that mean that they are objectively wrong
>from all points of view?

Objectively they are wrong in what they claim is the result of their methods just as the Kralori are right in claiming to be dragons.

>Sure, the orthodox mystics
>all scoff, but that doesn't mean its wrong from our point of view.

What's "our point of view"? As far as I know, what they say is demonstrably not true.

>>> And ascetism is a practice, not a path on its own - plenty of
>>>ascetism is mystically profoundly wrong.

>>Such as?

> Harsh ascetism isn't even restricted to mystics. Ascetic theists
>are hardly going to meet with mystic approval.

Asceticism by definition is a mystical practice. Who are these ascetic non-mystical theists?
