Talor's laugh reminds me of Mandorallen, the laughing knight,
in David Eddings' (quite bland) fantasy series The Belgariad.
He's a knight who has started fearing battle. A friend of his
suggests laughter as a way to combat fear. It works for
Mandorallen and he becomes even more fearsome to the enemy,
maniacally laughing while charging.
