No, that's Nysalor who's the unprincipled one. What else is illumination, except a
licence for hypocrisy?

I'd think of Arkat more like a fanatic who radically changes sides, but did believe in
the ideologies/theologies he adhered to. It's the difference between promiscuity and
serial monogamy.

Examples from RL would include Mussolini (used to be editor of the Italian Socialist
Newspaper),
Oswald Moseley (Labour Minister turned leader of the British Union of Fascists) Stalin (once trained to be a priest)

On the milder front, for the Yank readers, you've got John Dos Pasos (ex-Communist Party sympathizer turned McCarthyite), Whittaker Chambers (ex-CP, witness against Alger Hiss), Irving Kristol (ex-Trot, turned theorist for the thinking right-wing), Lyndon LaRouche (ex-Trot, turned into ultraright conspiracy theorist), and David Horowitz (ex-cheerleader for the Black Panthers turned ultraconservative pundit).

St. Paul's another example, coming to think of it.

Hmm, wouldn't that be an interesting scenario - A Storm Bully getting a Lunar revelation, and becoming a Lunar evangelist?

BTW, any parallels between the Argrath/Kallyr rivalry in the fight against the Lunars
and the internal conflict in the Loyalist side in the Spanish Civil War? (I can see it
now - "Homage to Sartar-onia")
