Educating Orlanthi Women

There has been discussions about whether Orlanthi clans should bother educating their women, given that they seem to then marry them to other clans, thus seemingly losing the investment.

Clans don't do most of the education, the more immediate family does. This would be the inhabitants of the same stead, whether or not of the same bloodline (extreme example, thralls might do some teaching, where used [most of Orlanthi society, save Sartar, I believe?]) most of the time. The children will be educated for their roles as best as their families can afford. The reason is the same as why RW towns which habitually lose their children on high school graduation still try to run decent schools. They are THEIR children, after all.

Also, except for exotics like CA or Bevara or Issaries, most of her training is received during the normal course of growing up (helping the Ernaldan mother with household chores, including putting out the treats for the local spirits, etc.) or else delayed until after her marriage and first child, the requirements for Ernaldan priestesses, IIRC.

Daughters whose mothers are dead or returned, and whose fathers remarry will, of course, occasionally run into the dreaded Evil Stepmother, just as in any other society.
