| The problem with these RW examples is that we don't
|have the option
|of convincingly contacting our gods and asking their take on
|the question.
|Certainly Elmal knows who the sun is, and his exact relationship to it.
|What does he say when the distraught Devotee, who just got his
|ass kicked
|by some Solar Hero, begs to know what the deal is?

Do the Gods even know the objective, unvarnished truth? In Glorantha, answers you get from divination are short and ambiguous; even the Godlearners couldn't learn "the truth", just one aspect of it. The gods, living outside of History, have trouble understanding and communicating with beings who live inside the veil of Time; they do not think in words, as humans do. All of Gloranthan mythology is an attempt by humans to understand the truth about the Universe and their place in it; that so many contradictions exist is a hallmark of the difficulty in perceiving That Which Man Was Not Meant to Know.

So just because you have a hotline to the gods doesn't mean that they will give you a useful answer to their questions. They will give you the truth as they know it, according to their understanding of what you want.
