I am of the opinion that the whole Elmal/Yelmalio thing is a resultof this sort of thinking. Along the lines of Elmal was supposed to be the sun, but Yelm is obviously some sort of better Sun God, making Elmal a fraud; what we have really been worshipping is an aspect of Yelm, his Brightness - the shiny bit that we can see, but not Cosmic Justice and the Divine Oneness. Lets call him Yelmailio and start a new religion. OTOH even the Pelorians admit that 'so called' Yelm fell to pieces. What sort of god is that? He is made up of all sorts of snakes, ashes, eagles, and other . stuff. The real sun is Elmal, it is obvious.

Alternatively we could start by defining what Yelm was not, like the scholars of old Peloria.
