Scrumpy!

As they say in the DiscWorld novels, "It's made from apples...mostly."

Interesting that someone named Pearton would be a fan of scrumpy, since it's often made from pears as well. A search of the Web will turn up the Cider and Perry Web Site, which gave me more info on cider, perry and scrumpy making than I could shake a stick at.

I suspect that Apple Lane is a local center for the making of cider and scrumpy (so called because it's made from "scrumps" or fallen apples. Pear trees tend to grow in soil that is marginal for apples and, in Old England, were often planted as boundry markers. Many an Orlanthi stead likely has old pear trees planted at the corners.

After wonder explainations of how strong drink works, Yak goes on to say:
