<< Somewhere I got the idea that Darktonge was used for sending messages using trollkin. The message being tattooed onto the trollkin's skin where it could be read by feel even if the trollkin didn't survive.
Why not marinade the living trollkin in a strong flavour, a flavour which holds meaning ot the recieving troll, then tell him to go and visit such and such. The taste of the resulting meal would give some sort of message.
